Automobile Corporation of Goa Ltd. ,(ACGL) was promoted in the joint sector in 1980 by EDC Limited (a Govt. of Goa Industrial Development Company) (formerly known as Economic Development Corporation of Goa Daman & Diu Ltd.) in technical & financial association with Tata Motors , (formerly known as Tata Engineering & Locomotive Co. Ltd.). The Company manufactures sheet metal components and Bus coaches at its factories situated at villages Honda & Bhuimpal, Goa. The Company is in operation since 1982 and is a major supplier of pressings and assemblies to Tata Motor's Pune factory. To meet 'just in time' supplies of the customer, the Company has set up a Press shop unit at Jejuri, Pune. In 1987, the Company entered into a Technical Collaboration Agreement with Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd., Japan for various models of chassis mounted bus bodies and a further agreement to build Monocoque buses during 1995. The Company is professionally managed with a continuous Dividend record from 1985-86 to 1997-98. The Company's shares are listed on The Stock Exchange, Mumbai.
