MICO was incorporated in 1951 as a subsidiary of Rober Bosch, with its registered office at Madras, which was later shifted to Bangalore in 1953. In 1969, the Mysore Branch of the Central Bank of India Ltd, offered for sale 22000 shares of the Company to the public at a premium of Rs70 per share. The shares of the company were also listed during the same year. MICO manufactures nozzles & nozzle holders, FIPs, hydraulic products and auto electricals including spark plugs. The Company has continuously modernized and upgraded product range. In 1986 it began manufacture of mini spark plug (extension of its spark plugs range) for motor cycles, which was till then being imported. Manufacture of special purpose machines, machine tools accessories etc began in 1987. MICO embarked on manufacture of starter motors, alternators, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment etc in 1989-90.
Motor Industries Company Limited(MICO). The Company's principal activity is to manufacture auto components. The products of Company include fuel injection equipment, spark plugs, auto electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, portable electric power tools, injectors, nozzles and nozzle holders, car stereos, accessories for automobile engines and other automobiles related products. These products are sold under the brand names MICO and Bosch. Automotive products accounted for 94% of 2002 revenues and Others, 6%.
