The Bank is actively involved since 1973 in non-profit activity called Community Services Banking. All they bank branches and administrative offices throughout the country sponsor and participate in large number of welfare activities and social causes. The bank business is more than banking because they touch the lives of people anywhere in many ways. The Bank posted a Net Profit of Rs. 2438.19 cr for H1 of 2005-06 compared to Rs.2140.29 cr. in H1 of 2004-05, registering a growth of 13.92%. Despite lower profit on sale of Investment, the growth in Net Profit was achieved due to higher Net Interest Income and the lower provisions required for NPAs during the half-year.
