Jagatjit manufactures and sells potable and industrial alcohol. Its leading whisky brand Aristocrat sells over 2mn cases pa and is one of the leading Whisky brands in the world. The company has a 9% market share in the Indian liquor market. 70% of the revenue is earned from liquor. The company also manufactures and sells malted milk food brands Maltova and Viva. Traded product portfolio consists of IMFL, petroleum products, bulk bourbon and shrimps. The company has tied up with a few international majors for distribution of their brands in India. It is likely that the global majors, post lifting of restrictions in 2001 as per WTO agreement, may attempt takeover of players like Jagatjit to acquire a foothold in the Indian liquor market.
