KEWL was promoted in 1983 as a private limited company (converted to a public limited company in 1992) to set up a forging unit with an installed capacity of 900 tpa. The facilities for casting were added in 1986-87. Over the years, the forging and casting capacity were increased to 6000 tpa and 6170 tpa respectively, with the completion of its recent expansion project. In February 1993, it came out with a public issue at a premium of Rs 10/- per share which was fully subscribed.
