VST was incorporated in 1930 at Hyderabad. It made its first bonus issue in 1935 and 3 more in the 40s. The company came out with an IPO in Apr '75, and offered 1.77mn no of share to the Indian public at a premium of Rs6. The company's name was changed from Vazir Sultan Tobacco Co. Ltd to VST Industries in August 1984.
VST commissioned its first primary manufacturing facility for tobacco processing in 1990. In 1992, VST was given the status of 'Export House' by the government. The company has continuously modernized and upgraded its primary & secondary tobacco processing and cigarette manufacturing facilities to meet international standards. It has installed 3 high-speed LAGA machines imported from France. It has also upgraded and refurbished other tow machines, installed programmable logic controller, high speed ITM, hinge lid packer ,etc in its plant. The company has now implemented full and Partial Hard Link machine system in its secondary-manufacturing department and has developed in-house High Speed Wrappers.
