Henkel SPIC India Ltd. The Company's principal activities are to manufacture and market household detergents and soaps under the trade names of Henko, White Gaint and Zeolite. The Company exports its products to Oman, Iran and other Eastern countries. The Company's manufacturing plant is located at Karaikal in the union territory of Pondicherry. Synthetic detergents acctd for 50% of 2001 revs; Soaps, 24%; Cosmetics, 6%; Cleansers, 3%; Deodorants 3%; Toothpastes, 2% and Other, 12%. HSIL was incorporated during 1987 to manufacture eco-friendly zeolite based phosphate free detergents under the name SPIC Fine Chemicals Ltd. and it was renamed as Henkel SPIC India Limited during 1996. HSIL was promoted jointly by M/s Henkel KGaA, Germany and M/s Tamilnadu Petroproducts Ltd., (TPL). Henkel KGaA Germany. HSIL along with its Subsidiaries manufacture and market a range of world class Detergents, Cleansers, Cosmetics & Hair Care products.
