Mr. Jatin R. Mehta and others promoted su-Raj Diamonds (India) Ltd. (SDL) in 1985, as a Public Limited Company in Mumbai. It was set up to manufacture "Swan" diamonds with indigenous technology, wholly for the export market. The Company's main line of business is the manufacture and export of cut and polished diamonds and diamonds studded gold and platinum jewellery. The company has also taken steps to manufacture and export jewellery through its international marketing net work. While diamonds account for over 90% of the company's sales, diamond jewelry is another thrust area. It has carved out a place for itself in Indian branded jewelry market with its Forever range of jewelry, launched in 1998.The company's export market includes Europe, Asia, US, Antwerp, Dubai and London. SDL is one of the largest sightholders for De Beers, which provides the advantage of an assured supply of rough diamonds at stable prices. The company efforts for product Improvement, cost reduction, product development, import substitution has benefitted the company to make profits. The Company operates with a wholly owned subsidiary SU-ley Diamond Dealers Pvt. Ltd. Recent Developments: Su-raj Diamonds India Ltd has approved incorporation of a 100% subsidiary company in UAE. The Company has also set up a unit in Surat Economical Zone and a 100% EOU in Bangalore for Jewellery manufacturing. It recently disinvested its stake in Su-Raj Metals Limited, Facet Diamond Processing Limited and Lustre Jewels Limited and also disposed off its unit located at SEEPZ in Mumbai. Mr. Jatin R. Mehta has been appointed as the Chairman-cum-Managing Director of the Company for a period of 5 years.
