The Andhra Sugars Limited was established on the 11th of August , 1947. They have used locally
available renewable resources to produce value added products , generating employment for the
rural population and helped in boosting the rural economy. They have company operations located
at Tanuku, Kovvur, Guntur, Taduvai, Saggonda and Bhimadole in the state of Andhra Pradesh in
Southern India producing 25 different products.
The company was manufacturing units from 1962 to 2001 they used the batch process. In 2001 they
switched to the Bio-still continuous fermentation process. They recover & purify Carbon dioxide
that is a by-product from the Distillery and use this purified Carbon dioxide as one of the raw
materials in the production of Salicylic Acid. The company was manufacture Acetic Acid, Acetic
Anhydride and Ethyl Acetate from industrial alcohol. They adapted the basic process technology
from M/s. AB Chematur of Sweden for the manufacture of Acetic Acid and Acetic Anhydride from
industrial alcohol. They improved upon this process at our R&D facility and obtained a better
ratio of Acetic Anhydride to Acetic Acid. They transferred this Improved process technology to
M/s. Humphreys and Glasgow Consultants and Supplied these plants on a turn key basis.
