The present name of the company was adopted in the year 1998. The company was found and promoted by Mr. R.G. Chandramaogan and his associates. Mr. R.G.Chandramagan initially stated Ice Cream Business in early 1970s and later in the year 1986 formed the business into a private limited company, which was later converted into a public limited company.

The company is the first in South India to intrduce homogenized milk, which is consumed all over the world. The company was proud to introduce '100% Pathogenic Bacteria Removed Milk', the first of its Kind in India. Bacteria removed milk is produced by Bacteria clarification process using German Technology, which physically removes 100% pathogenic Bacteria from milk. This Technology helps in preserving the natural flavour and taste of farm fresh milk.

Hatsun Milk Food was formed as a small partnership firm, marketing the brand Arun Ice Creams. The surprise element started even back then, as manufacturing and marketing ice creams was considered a luxury and entry into this area seemed a risky proposition. But a few years and several successes later, the company surprised everyone again by spearheading an ice cream revolution in the South.
