Armour Polymers is planning to set up a diversifying its product range to non-pyridine based products. APL is a manufacturer of specialty intermediaries used to manufacture pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals. The product range of APL includes Pyridine/Picoline, Cyanopyridine, Pyridine derivatives, Cyanopyridines derivatives and Pyrazinamide. In FY99, the company had exports worth Rs57.5mn as against lastyear’s exports of Rs32mn. The countries to which APL exported goods include USA, Belgium, Spain and Bangladesh. The company has high profile customers. The major pharmaceutical companies like Ranbaxy Ltd, Dr Reddy’s, Cipla, Lupin Laboratories, Aurobindo Pharma etc appear in the client list of APL. APL is now focussing on high margin products like Cyanopyridine and Lutidine. These products are used in fast moving anti-ulcer drugs - Lansaprazole and Omeprazole. Cyanopyridine derivatives are used in the manufacturing of anti-TB drugs and Vitamin B3. APL has expanded its Cyanopyridine manufacturing capacity from 500MT to 1500MT. The company plans to increase its product portfolio by diversifying into non-pyridine products. These range of products are expected to hit the market by the year end.
