Incorporated as a Public Limited Company in 1985, Gujarat Industries Power Co. Ltd. (GIPCL) is into the business of generating power. With a total capacity of 555 MW at Vadodara and Mangrol the company has a vision to transform itself into a national level power sector enterprise. The Company was promoted by Gujarat Electricity Board (GEB), Gujarat State Fertilizers & Chemicals Limited (GSFC), Gujarat Alkalies & Chemicals Limited (GACL) and Petrofils Co-operatives Limited. GIPCL is currently engaged in the business of generation of Electrical Power. It commissioned its first power project, a 145 MW gas based Combined Cycle Power Plant in February, 1992 at Vadodara. Power from this plant is distributed to its promoters in proportion to their original equity holding. It has its own Captive Lignite Mines for Surat Lignite Power Plant.
