Lloyds Steel Industries Ltd is a player in the Indian steel industry producing Hot Rolled Coils, Cold Rolled Coils and Galvanized Coils/Sheets. The company produced 153,632 tonne of cold rolled and galvanized sheets/coils and 139,290 tonne of Hot Rolled Coil during FY2000. The HRC plant had a capacity utilization of 23.22%, the CRC plant had a capacity utilization of 15.61% and GP Coils/Sheets had a capacity utilization of 79.20%. The exports of the company increased to Rs534.7mn in FY2000 from the figure of Rs424.5mn in FY99. Exports as a percentage of sales have improved from 4.8% to 9.9%.
Lloyds Steel has also got an exposure to the real estate business through its wholly owned subsidiary, Lloyds Realty Ltd. The company?s net loss has reduced from Rs692.6mn in FY2000 to Rs436.2mn in FY99. Lloyds Realty Ltd is highly leveraged company with a debt equity ratio of 2.6:1. The company has capacities to manufacture 600,000 tonne of Hot Rolled Coils, 350,000 tonne of CR flats and 125,000 tonne of GP/GC sheets.
