DSM Group is one of the largest sugar manufacturing group in India. The Dhampur Sugar Mills was set up in 1933 with a crushing capacity of 300 T.C.D. Today the group has 4 sugar mills in India and 1 in Nepal having total installed capacity of 32,000 tonnes of cane crushed per day. This sugar complex located at Dhampur is the oldest and most diversified of the facilities operated by DSM. It was established in 1933 with a crushing capacity of 300 TCD and at present can crush 12000 TCD. Over the years, this unit has come to occupy a very special place in the hearts of the farmers, vendors and various other people associated with it. DSM has introduced from this unit, advanced machinery concepts like Fibrizors, 5 and 8 Roller Mills, Toothed Roll Pressure Feeder and Grooved Roll Pressure Feeder. A closer look at the unit proves the point that sugar cane is a wonder crop. While sugar is produced in large quantities, the unit also produces high value industrial chemicals from molasses. Bagasse is used to manufacture straw board apart from producing power for internal consumption and for sale to the State Electricity Board. This complex epitomizes the synergy in the diversification programme of DSM.
