Krishna Filaments Ltd was promoted by Agarwals in 1988, in the name of Orkays Rope Manufacturing Company Ltd and was a 100 per cent export oriented unit (EOU). The name of the company was subsequently changed to Krishna Filaments Ltd in 1989. The company is in the business of manufacturing ropes. The synthetic ropes are made from Polyethylene and Polypropylene and mainly used in shipping, fishing, agriculture, telecommunications, construction, defence and the transport industry. Over the years the company had added to its product range. It started its activities in 1989 with the manufacture of three-strand ropes with an installed capacity of 1,800 tons per annum (tpa). Initially it started by setting up a 6,900 tpa plant, just 100 kms from Mumbai port with the finest equipment and state of art unit brought from Europe and far east. The company added twines and eight-strand ropes to its product range in 1994-95. The product range was re-engineered and within months it had scaled international levels of quality. Orders poured in both nationally and globally. The product of Krishna Filaments have been well received in Europe, US, Australia, the Middle East and the Far East. Today, the company exports a major part of its production, The company commenced its domestic sales in 1994-95, and with this it also ceased to be a 100 per cent EOU. The company is the leading player in the industry. It has been innovative in marketing a product with extensive usage and attaining leadership position in the market. Future Plans: Krishna Filaments expects the pickup in major user industries like shipping to improve performance of the company.
