Recron Synthetics Ltd was incorporated in 1986 in Madhya Pradesh. The aim was to set up a plant for the manufacture of 15000 tonnes of polyester filament yarn (PFY). The plant at Allahabad (Uttar Pradesh) commenced commercial production in December 1991. Its capacity was enhanced by 4000 tonnes in April 1994 and by another 5000 tonnes in December 1994.
Business: RYSY has an installed capacity of 66000 tpa of PFY at its plant in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh. The location of the plant is a disadvantage as the PFY markets are in Surat and Silvassa. The higher transportation cost enhances the cost of production. In contrast, market leader Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) has its plant in Surat. RYSY is the third largest producer after RIL and Indo-Rama Synthetics.
