The cement industry has put itself on a strong footing in 2004-05. With sales in October '04 rising 19% - the highest ever in the cement industry year-on-year. Cement majors are really hoping the festive season brings in even more cheer to the P&L.It's said that Indian software creates and runs entire business overseas. Now, it may be said that Indian cement is helping create sound foundations and structures as well. Exports are the real success story in the second half of 2004-05,with realisation per tonne earned ranging from $44-46, and volumes increasing by leaps and bounds to countries like the UAE and Sri Lanka.
